Albert C. Vinson, 91, of Greenwood, passed away June 26, 2014. The son of Albert Harlan and Alice May (Parks) Vinson, Albert was born July 16, 1922 in Swifton, Arkansas.

Albert retired from Allison's Division of General Motors after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Mooresville American Legion Post #1111. He enjoyed fishing and gardening; hosting family gatherings and spending quality time with his family.

Albert is survived by sons, Shelby C. (Elizabeth) Vinson of Ft. Wayne and James E. (Barbara) Vinson of North Vernon; daughters, Kay (Richard) Harrington, Sandra F. Walker and Sheila L. Vinson, all of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his wife, Almalene (Gilmore) Vinson in 2010; brothers, Harold and Rassie Vinson; sisters, Etta Lee Baker, Imogene Taylor, Lola Smith and Virginia Vinson.

Funeral services 12 noon July 2, 2014 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, where friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on July 1, 2014. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
