Alberta Carter Fulford-McDaniel-Janik, age 82, of Indianapolis, went to be with her Lord on Monday, December 7, 2015. Alberta was born September 5, 1933 in Indianapolis to James W. and Thelma F. (Patterson) Carter. She was a member of Trinity Southern Baptist Church in Indianapolis. Alberta worked at Western Electric for 30 plus years as a Press Operator. She was an avid reader who loved fishing, painting and country music. Alberta was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Greenwood Moose Lodge. She was much loved and will be missed by many people.
Alberta is survived by her son, Thomas D. (Betsy) McDaniel, of Shelbyville; daughters, Glenna F. (Larry) Henninger of Martinsville and Tonda K. (Tim) Bridges, of Paragon; brother, James (Bonnie) Carter, of High Point, NC; 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Alva Fulford, Charles "Tom" McDaniel, Rudolph "Ronnie" Janik; twin brother, Alfred Carter; brothers Larry Carter and John Mason; sisters, Darlene Carter-Hall, Elois Cannon-Baker and Marquetta Cannon-Handy.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood with burial in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 9, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, 6415 Castleway W.
