Alberta Lena Denton, age 87 of Indianapolis, died July 26, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove. Born July 3, 1922, she was the daughter of Albert and Irmel (Bennett) Orr. On September 9, 1955 in Indianapolis, she married her husband of 54 years, Joe M. Denton. In her early years, Alberta worked downtown Indianapolis as a milliner. She also worked at Eli Lilly and Hooks Drug Store. She was an incredible cook and seamstress and loved to decorate and loved pets, especially her two cats Ollie and Tessie. Survivors include her husband Joe; son Steve (Anne) Hoffman; daughter Melissa (Pat) Gureski; grandson Aaron Trueblood; sister Margaret Redman, special family friend Gene Trueblood and niece Shirley Amick. Alberta was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Kathryn Cox and Juanita Ruehl. Private services are scheduled.
