Obituary

Alberts Jacob Berzins, 86, of Greenwood, passed away on September 4, 2015. The son of Peteris and Cilitina Berzins, Alberts was born February 9, 1929 in Krustpils, Latvia.

On May 29, 1955, Alberts married Joan L. Smith Berzins in New Milton, West Virginia, and she survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Deborah L. Traughber and husband, Mark of Puerto Penasco, Sonora, Mexico and his son, David R. Berzins and wife Pamela of Greenwood; grandson, David Chrapla of Australia, granddaughters, Kala Traughber of Brownsburg and Amy Combs of Greenwood and four great-grandchildren that reside in Australia. In addition to his parents, Alberts was preceded in death by five brothers.

Alberts and his family arrived at Ellis Island in 1949 and moved to West Virginia where he met his loving wife Joan of 60 years. He served in the US Army at Ft. Knox during the Korean War.

Alberts retired from Wabash Truck Sales. He enjoyed fishing, boating and family. He will be missed by family and friends.

Funeral services 12:00 noon September 8, 2015 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Risen Lord Lutheran Church - 3758 West Whiteland Road Bargersville, Indiana 46106.
