Obituary

Mrs. Alcie Geneva Stamps, Indianapolis, passed away on the early morning of Saturday, January 15, 2022. She was 80. Alcie was born April 8 1941 in Water Valley, Mississippi, a daughter of the late Richmond and Aline (Wright) Reeves.

Alcie graduated high school in Kentucky and soon after, married Edwin M. Stamps on August 24, 1958. The young couple then moved to Indiana and started their family. Alcie had been employed as a baker at Lakeview Manor Nursing Home and later as the control clerk at Accordia Senior Benefits, formerly Blue Cross Blue Shield. In her leisure time, she enjoyed collecting stamps and baseball cards and for many years she sewed, creating many quilts. She also enjoyed crafts and caring for her dog, Chloe. In her younger years, she also served as a leader with the Blue Bird Girls. Alcie was a fantastic cook and looked forward to preparing delicious meals for her family.

Alcie was a long-time member of the Apostolic Bible Church where she was active in the Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed listening to Gospel Music.

She is survived by her children, Anna Houchens and Bonnie Irasid; her grandchildren, David Houchens and Christopher Houchens; a brother, Eddie (Sherri) Reeves as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband, Edwin Stamps and her siblings, Howard Reeves, Nancy Carter and Allie Johnson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday, January 21, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood with Barbara Daniel officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 pm, Thursday, January 20, 2022 at the funeral home.
