Alfred H. Backemeyer, 93, of Greenwood passed away May 21 with his daughter at his side.  He was born April 16, 1928 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Alfred and Amelia Backemeyer.

As a young man, Alfred became a journeyman electrician and spent the next 65 years in the trade.  For 40 of those years, he was employed by Sanborn Electric.  Alfred and his late wife, Geneva, were charter members of the Southport Christian Church (now Tapestry Church), where they were also very active with the youth.  Although he was a reserved man, Alfred loved God, his family and his friends dearly and will be missed.

Alfred will be fondly remembered by his children, Lynn (Larry) McCauley, and Gregg Backemeyer; his great granddaughter, Chloe; and numerous other family and friends.

In addition to his parents and his dear wife, Geneva, Alfred was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Family will receive friends from 11:00am - 1:00pm Friday, May 28 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, Indiana 46143 with service to follow at 1:00pm.
