Alfred "Fred" C. Bowman, 88, of Martinsville, passed away September 17, 2015. The son of William Collie and Mary Viola (Lambert) Bowman, Fred was born June 15, 1927 in Indianapolis.

Fred served in the U.S. Merchant Marines near the end of WW II. He was active with the American Legion. Fred enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Fred is survived by his wife, Carol Jean (Krebs) Bowman of Martinsville, whom he married on September 4, 1948; son, Clifton Bowman of Indianapolis; daughters, Marilyn (Garry) Sizemore of Martinsville and Julia (Rick) Cain of Indianapolis; brother, Marvin Bowman of Indianapolis; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Farrow and Richard Bowman and sisters, Della Fisher and Josephine V. Ridgeway.

Pastor David Gibson will conduct funeral services at 11:00 a.m. September 23, 2015 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. September 22, 2015 at the funeral home and prior to services on Wednesday.
