Alice Mae Beggs (Markins-Paisley) age 87, of Greenwood, formerly of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away in her home Sunday evening, February 8, 2009. She was born February 15th, 1921 in Glouster, Ohio.
She is preceded in death by her parents Belle and Emery Markins, husband of 47 years and father to her daughter Fred Paisley, husband of 12 years Charles Beggs, brothers Foster Markins and Charles Markins, sisters Betty Williams and Reuhama Foote (Bill) and several nieces and nephews.
She leaves behind with loving memories her daughter, Ellen Sue Cook (Carl); sister June Hayman (Clifford); grandchildren Starla Sue Gross (Timothy), Stacia Sorrell-Bencze (Thomas), and Steven Sorrell (Megan); great-grandchildren Stephen Miles, Starla Renee Gross, Christina and Hannah Sorrell. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Carskadden Optical until retirement. Alice Mae was a season ticket Pacer Fan. She was born the day after Valentine's Day, and as she would always story tell "instead of being born a Valentine, I was born a little whelp".
Alice Mae was an exceptional self taught pianist, faithfully playing and singing Hymnals for her church and family. She taught Sunday School, led Youth Groups, and served as Treasurer for the First Church of God in Zanesville. Upon moving to Indiana 7 years ago, she began worship at Southport Church of the Nazarene. She lived her entire life close to God. Through many turmoils he guided her closer to himself. She touched countless lives in her earthly lifetime here. She now rests in his loving arms.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 11th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, Indiana 46143. Services will be Friday, February 13th at 1:00 pm at the First Church of God in Zanesville with vistation 11:00am to 1:00pm at the church. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.
