Alice Josephine Pope, age 75, of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Community South Hospital. She was born December 10, 1936 in Macon, GA to Robert Henry and Bernice Inez Britt. Alice was a graduate of Ivy Tech and was an LPN. She was a member of Garfield Park Church of God and a member of the Women of Grace at the church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, TOPPS and loved to spend time with her family and her church family. She loved to shop at Wal Mart. She married Ralph Pope and he preceded her in death on October 20, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents, son, David Allen Pope, sister, Robbie Sullivan and great grandson Nathan Grubb.
Alice is survived by her sons, Gary (Karen), of Indianapolis, Ralph (Cindy), of New Whiteland and Robert (Susan) Pope, of Franklin; daughters, Marie (Bill) Godfrey, of Greenville, SC, Diane (Cary) Erwin, of Indianapolis; sister, Leonora (Glenn) Dykes, of Byron, GA; 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday, May 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Garfield Park Church of God, 401 E. Southern Ave. Indianapolis, 46225 with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood. Visitation will be Sunday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Garfield Park Church of God in memory of Alice.
