Angela Rose
(Beckley) Deputy
Nov 9, 1934 — May 28, 2019
Angela Rose (Beckley) Deputy, age 84, died on Tuesday May 28, 2019, after a brief battle with cancer. Angela's home has been at the Greenwood South Pavilion , Greenwood, Indiana, since December 2013. Angela was the victor of her 6-mos battle with cancer, since she joyfully walked into the arms of Jesus.
Angela entered this life on Nov. 9, 1934 in Louisville, KY, the youngest child of Raymond H. and Mary (Hildenbrand) Beckley. Although her family only lived in Corydon, Indiana for about 6 years, she and her siblings always carried that farm as their home. They never missed a chance to recount the stories of their youth in the hills of southern Indiana. Angela graduated from Corydon High School.
She was united in marriage in 1954 to Melvin J. Deputy at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Charlestown, Indiana. In spite of all the challenges, heartache, and divorce in 2003, Melvin was Angela's one true love. Melvin preceded her in death in 2010, as did their two sons; James M. Deputy in 1998 and Steve N. Deputy in 2017.
Angela is survived by her remaining 6 children; Marilyn (Rick) Sharp, Carolyn (Mario) Salinas, Rita Kuehrmann, Renee Deputy, Melinda "Susan" (Ted) Wood, Catherine (Jeff Byrkett) Wright, and Joseph Deputy. She also leaves 22 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. Survivors also include Angela's ever faithful siblings; Raymond J. Beckley and Doris M. Beckley, along with their loviong cousins; the Gerlachs, Maginots, Gradys, Williams, Borrors, and McFalls.
Melvin and Angela have been members of Our Lady of Greenwood Catholic Church, since 1959 when they settled in the area. Even with a large family, they managed to scrimp and pinch pennies so as to pay tuition for a private parochial education for all their children. Since Angela was never employed outside the family home, she was reliant on Melvin's financial care and protection. Melvin fulfilled his responsibility completely to cover Angela many years past his death and unto her final breath. Amen
