Obituary

Ann E. (Priestley) Larner, 82, of Greenwood, Indiana passed away October 11, 2020.  She was born November 14, 1937 to the late Kenneth Holmes and Sarah Elizabeth (Thurston) Priestley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Terrence Larner, and her sisters, Susan and Jane. Ann is survived by her children, Todd (Patricia Amano Larner) Larner, Craig (Beth) Larner, and Laurie Little; and grandson, Joshua Little.

Ann earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Michigan State University (1959) and a Masters of Science in Major-Medical/Surgery Nursing from Northern Illinois University (1982).  Ann went on to work in public health, helping to set up the diabetic wing at Wishard Hospital.  She was a Certified Diabetic Educator.  Her business card read: Ann Larner, RN, MSN, CDE, Clinical Nurse Specialist in Diabetes.  Ann was an adjunct instructor of nursing at IUPUI, leading students through clinicals at the hospital.  She was quite accomplished in her career.

Ann was a die hard Michigan State Spartans fan. Her family said she bled green, as a matter of fact.  She was a wealth of knowledge around all things football, even winning a contest of football knowledge, beating out all the men, to earn a trip to the Rose Bowl to see the Spartans play.  Ann was a Master Gardener who  helped work on the landscaping at the Indiana Governor's mansion.  She spent many hours tending her gardens at home, making the weeds scream (as her husband used to say).  She and her husband Terrence were also avid golfers.  Music was also an important aspect of Ann's life. She played trombone in a community band in Illinois and supported all three of her children through many years of marching band. Ann was an amazing woman and will be missed by many.
