It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Anna Mae Wells. Anna passed away Saturday, January 17, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family. She was 63 years old. Anna was born to her parents, Alvin and Thelma Burke, in Harlan, KY, on January 28, 1962. Anna married her husband, Wesley Wells, on June 6, 1979, and they shared 46 years of marriage together. The love between Anna and Wesley was so inspiring to their family. Anna could always rely on Wesley to protect, honor, and love her throughout her life.
Anna was a devout Baptist and a member of the Smith Valley Baptist church with her husband for many years. Anna enjoyed reading her bible in her free time. One of Anna's favorite places was her backyard pool; she loved spending time in the sunshine and floating in the water. She was a wonderful homemaker for her family; she kept house beautifully and never disappointed with her cooking. Anna worked in the Cafeteria for Center Grove Schools for six years (while her children attended) to stay close to her children.
Anna was a beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She had an open-heart policy and a natural maternal instinct which drew others to her all throughout her life.
She was a protector, caregiver, and a constant source of love during the childhoods of so many. She was not afraid to step up for her family to provide stability, guidance, and unconditional care at a time when people needed it most. She had a heart that put others first, always offering help, wisdom, comfort, safety, and love. Her strength, kindness, and quiet sacrifices did not go unnoticed. She will be deeply missed, always remembered, and forever loved.
Anna is survived by her husband, Wesley Wells; her children, Mack Wells and Alinna (Miguel Rojas) Wells; her grandchildren, Miguel Rojas-Wells JR., Vicente Rojas-Wells, and Carlos Rojas-Wells; her sister, Onia Gibson; her several nieces and nephews.
Anna is preceded in death by her parents; her infant son, Christopher Wells; her siblings, Katherine Miller and Christopher Burke.
A visitation for Anna will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. There will be another time of visitation on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. The funeral service will be on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 10:00 am. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 11:00 am.
