Obituary

Anntoinette 'Toni' (Casper) Nealy was born January 2, 1938, in southwestern Minnesota and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family October 17, 2025, at age 87, in Greenwood, Indiana.  Toni was born January 2, 1938, a daughter of the late Emmanuel P. and Jane (Van Drumme) Casper.
Toni grew up on the Casper family farm in Balaton, Minnesota, with her parents and four siblings. After high school graduation, she attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, where she met David (Dave) Nealy, who immediately fell in love. Many dates and dances ensued and Dave — eventually — earned her trust (and her heart). The two married in September of 1961 and lived in Minneapolis while they both attended school. Dave would eventually graduate with a degree in engineering and the opportunity to get a Master's degree — and eventually, a Doctorate — led them to Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. While there, Toni worked as a secretary in the Chemistry Department to help support Dave while he focused on his studies.
A move to Indianapolis in the early 1960's ensued after Dave was offered a job at Allison Gas Turbine (GM). Shortly after, their only child, Stephen, was born in December of 1965 and Toni's true calling of mother began. She was a wonderful and caring mother. She volunteered by designing and printing the weekly school newsletter where Stephen attended school and, for a few years, designed the Center Grove Bantam Football League programs in the mid-1970's.
She was a great listener — a necessity living around Dave (and Steve) — an excellent bowler (with a closetful of trophies to prove it), fantastic event planner, cook, florist, artist and decorator. She was a member of Phi Beta Psi sorority and, for decades, was active in her church, Our Lady of Greenwood, where she sang in the choir and was a lay minister.
She loved to travel and enjoyed numerous trips to Europe with Dave. She also reluctantly played along on many more excursions as Dave chased trains throughout the US.
Above all, Toni was a great wife, mother and grandmother to her two loving grandchildren, Cameron Alexander Nealy and Alexa Nicole Nealy.
Toni is survived by her husband Dave, her son Stephen, daughter-in-law Nila and her two grandchildren, Cameron and Alexa, in addition to two brothers (Ronald Casper and Anthony Casper), her sister-in-law (Sally) and many nieces and nephews. Her loving family and friends will remember Toni's generous spirit, beautiful smile, infectious laugh and engaging warmth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmanuel P. (Bill) Casper and Jane Casper, her older sister, Irene Casper Moon and youngest brother, Gerald Casper.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am, Friday, October 24, 2025 at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church, 345 South Meridian Street, Greenwood. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood.
