Anthony G. "Tony" Ruhana, age 82, of Greenwood, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014. He was born July 27, 1932 in Detroit, MI to George and Sadie (Samrah) Ruhana. He graduated from St. Philip Neri with the Class of1950 and from Dearborn Community College with the Class of 1956. He was a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church. Tony was a Regional Transportation Manager for many years and retired from Brooks Foods in 1997. He was a member of International Motor Trucking Association and was an avid card player and music lover.
He married the former Joan Gancarz on September 26, 1953 and she preceded him in death on December 17, 2014. Surviving him are his sons, Michael (Sandy), David (Mary) and Mark (Susan); daughters, Karen (Paul) Minite, and Julie Ruhana; brother, George (Mary) Ruhana; sisters, Marlene (Jerry) Dronzkowski, and Sharon (Phil) Stopkey; 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Teresa Gillgallon.
A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 8300 Rahke Road, Indianapolis, IN 46217. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jackson Ballard Trust. Jackson is the son of the late Emily Ruhana and the great grandson of Tony and Joan. Due to the recent loss of Joan, contributions and flowers are not necessary.
