Indianapolis:
Arthur Hampton, 87, passed away Monday, April 2, 2012. Art was born on March 29, 1925 in Barbersville, KY to the late Jack and Margaret (Johnson) Hampton. He married his love Mary Lois Rector on June 28, 1947.
Art was a Custodial Engineer for IPS 36 for 37 years before retiring. He was a tremendously loving husband, father, and grandfather. He knew no stranger. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing with the grandkids, and tinkering with anything and everything.
Art is survived by his loving children: David Arthur Hampton, Keith Wayne Hampton, and Deborah Kathleen Hampton; brother Jim Hampton; sister Sadie Swaford; 10 grandchildren: Regina, Angie, Suzannah, Andrew, Joseph, Kelly, Victoria, Angela Nicole, Amber, and Brandi; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Art was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary Lois of 57 years; and many siblings.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 9, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood with the funeral immediately following. Burial will take place in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
