Obituary

Arthur "Art" Eugene Swatts, Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023. He was 81 years old. Art was born in Indianapolis, IN to his parents Edwin and Emma Jean Swatts. Art enlisted in the US Marine Corps and selflessly served his country until he was honorably discharged. Art married his wife, Bobbi, on February 11, 1961 and together they shared 62 years of marriage together.
Art worked as a production worker for Ford Motor Company and retired in 2000 after 33 years of service. Art was a Moose Lodge member and enjoyed the friends and social events that came with his membership. Art and Bobbi loved to travel together throughout his life. He enjoyed reminiscing about his many trips with his family. Art loved to restore old vehicles and watch car races whenever he had the chance. Art was an animal lover and raised several beloved dogs throughout his life. Art's family would describe him as an organized man with a wonderful sense of humor that never met a stranger. The memories created will now be cherished by those he leaves behind.
Art is survived by his wife, Bobbi; his children, Pam (Jeff) Jenkins, Cheryl (Eric) Boarman, Joyce (Al) Kessel, and Steve (Maria) Swatts; his grandchildren, Chris and Kelli Jenkins, Blake Mason, Eric and Warren Adams, Ryan Strohm, Amanda Price; his great grandchildren, Miles and Eli Jenkins, Emma, Isaiah, Joel and Everly Adams, Jackson Price, Keely and Kamryn Strohm, and Noa Mason; his brother, Ron Swatts; his step brother, Neely V. Russell Jr.; his step-sister, Ednette (Mark) Slocum; his several nieces and nephews.
Art is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Sharon Merrit; his several nephews.
A visitation for Art will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Monday, April 10, 2023 at 1:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 2:00 pm.
