Banks William "Bill" Covert, age 87, of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017. Bill was born August 23, 1929 in Bloomington, IN to Banks and Bonnie (Ison) Covert. He was a Korean Conflict veteran and had worked as a gas station attendant for many years. He was a car enthusiast and an avid NHRA fan.

Bill married the former Linda McClure on September 29, 1971 in Indianapolis and she survives along with his sons, Robert (Julie), Jim, Alan, and Doug Covert, all of Indianapolis; daughters, Laura Covert of Shelbyville, Julie Covert of Indianapolis and Amanda (Steven) Massey of Martinsville; sister, Joy (Jack) Smith of Streetsboro, OH; eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack Covert; sisters June Lester and Jean Baker.

Graveside services with military honors will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood with burial to follow. Please use this page to share photos, stories or memories of Bill.
