Barbara Wirey Blomeley, age 84, of Danville, KY, formerly of Indianapolis, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 3, 2016. Barbara was born July 25, 1931 in Indianapolis to Herman and Elsie (Lutes) Mitchell. She was a graduate of Southport High School with the Class of 1949. She worked for many insurance companies through the course of her life. She also was an LPN at Johnson Co. Memorial Hospital for more than 20 years. She married Wendell Wirey on October 7, 1950 and he preceded her in death on February 21, 2006. She later married Walter Blomeley, Sr. on October 13, 2008. Barbara was a devoted Christian and she adored her family. She will be missed terribly by all who know and love her.
Barbara is survived by her husband Walter; sons, Edward (Janet) Wirey of Danville, KY, Timothy (Kathy) Wirey of Martinsville, and Jeff (Angie) Wirey of Indianapolis; stepson, Scott (Marsha) Blomeley of Sarasota, FL; daughters, Kathryn (Bob) Adams and Martha (Brian) Adams, both of Cloverdale, IN; stepdaughters, B.J. (Ben) Boyer of Bethany, IL, Cathy (Don) Cantrell, of Springfield, IL and Cindy (John) Selby of Shelbyville, IL; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, son, Kenneth Wirey and granddaughter, Susan Adams.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with Pastor Perry Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Monday, February 8 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association.
