Barbara Jean Buckley, Greenwood, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022. She was 85 years old.
Barbara was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to James Donald and June Madeanne Stevens. She worked at Lane Bryant and Hamilton Harris for several years before becoming a homemaker in 1974 to care for her family, which in later years also included her grandchildren. Barbara was a sweet, loving person who enjoyed being with her family, taking a chance on lottery scratch-offs, working puzzles, and watching television. She was also an avid card player. She was always eager to play cards at family functions and participated in monthly family poker nights and a Euchre club for many years.
She was truly passionate about helping others, whenever she was able to do so, and loved making contributions to charities such as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Wheeler Mission and Disabled American Veterans.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings (James Daniel Stevens and Peggy Ann Tyree), her husband of 24 years (James Edward Buckley) and her daughter (Angela Jean Bonner). She is survived by her children; Gwen England (Mike), Jimmy Poulton, and Isabell Miller (Jay) along with 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by not only her immediate family but also many other relatives and dear friends.
Barbara will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband and near her beloved daughter at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm, Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. Family and friends are welcome to visit from 12:00 noon to the time of the service.
