Obituary

While surrounded by family, Barbara Kay Frye went home to be with Jesus on January 13, 2021 at age 72. Barbara was born on September 15, 1948 to Elbert and Evelyn Johnson of Indianapolis, IN. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1966.

She valued God above all else as eviden ced in the way she lived and cared for others. Barbara was a fiercely dedicated mo ther ; the people her children have become and the great success they enjoy is a direct result of her unconditional love and support .

Barbara passionately served God at Villa Baptist Church and Baptist Academy for almost 40 years where s he was employed as a secretary, bookkeeper, school principal and administrat or . She volunteered s inging in the choir, leading youth, coaching cheerleaders, discipl ing and mentor ing countless adults and students alike. She ma de it her mission to improve the lives of others ; always encourag ing and support ing them in good and bad times (Romans 12:15) .

But d on't be misled by the seriousness of her substance and drive ; Barbara knew how to have a good time . Old or young, h er home was always the place to be; f ull of laughter, food, fun and shenanigans! After retiring, Barbara and Eddie took the show on the road and have enjoyed the sun and sand of Fort Myers, FL for the past six years.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents (Elbert and Evelyn Johnson) , grandson (George Moore), former husband (Wendell Padgett), and sister (Linda Brinkman) . She is survived by her husband Eddie Frye ; three children, Christine Stanfield (Tim), Brian Moore (Dawn) and Amber Chittenden (Jason); seven grandchildren, T asha (Aaron) , Nic, Brooklyn, Jalen, Paisley, Jocelyn and Wyatt ; and brother Don Johnson. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill.

Visitation will be at Villa Baptist Church (2650 Villa Ave., Indianapolis IN 46203) on Thursday, January 21 st from 4-7pm with a service immediately following. COVID guidelines will be followed.
