Mrs. Barbara Southwood, Greenwood, passed away on the morning of Friday, July 2, 2021. She was 99. Barbara was born June 11, 1922 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a daughter of the late Tinker Dale and Lettie Ann (Scott) Chandler.

Barbara attended Arsenal Technical High School and soon after that married the love of her life, Victor Dean Southwood in 1939.

A devoted homemaker all of her life, Barbara was a wonderful wife and mother. She looked forward to the time her family would get together and play games. She especially enjoyed playing Euchre. She also enjoyed going to lunch with her family and would probably tell you her family was her greatest accomplishment.

Barbara loved square dancing and attending concerts especially those of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tom Jones, The Gaither's and Elvis Presley. She was in attendance at Elvis' final performance at Market Square Arena in 1977.

Barbara is survived by her children, Mas (Pat) Southwood, Allan (Aida) Southwood, Janet (Tim) Brown and LuAnn Young; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband of 62 years, Victor Southwood, her son, Steve Southwood; her granddaughter Melinda Bolton and five brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 pm, Friday, July 9, 2021 at Forest Lawn Funeral home, Greenwood with Rev. Jackie Chandler officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
