Benny Leonard Sauer, 85, of Greenwood, passed away August 20, 2016 at Greenwood Village South. The son of Arthur Sauer and Hazel M. Stevens Sauer Dishman, Benny was born September 10, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Benny loved to golf and bowling, where he bowled on several leagues. Benny served in the United States Air Force, receiving the Occupation Medal (Germany). After the military, Benny was a driver for Brinks and then for Eye Specialist of Indiana.

Benny is survived by a daughter, Katherine Griffiths of California; three grandsons and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Benny was preceded in death by his wife, Leola Wilburn Sauer; four brothers, Edward, Arthur, Robert and William and three sisters, Jean, Patricia and Shirley.

Private services with military honors were held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. Burial was at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
