Bertha Mae Heffley, age 87 of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015. She was born May 22, 1927 in Manchester, KY to John and Lena (Hensley) Philpot. Bertha worked for Eli Lilly for many years in the Insulin Division. She was a member of Eagledale Baptist Church. Bertha married Jack Heffley on June 17, 1948 in London, KY and he preceded her in death in November 1997. She was an avid gardener who loved her flowers and spending time with her family.

Bertha is survived by her sons, John (Janie), Jerry, James (Andrea), Jessie (Carma) and Jeffrey (Tammi) Heffley; daughters, Erelena (Gary) Clift, Joann Kamp, Jeanne (Robert) Jones and Janice Hooper; brothers, Calvin (Mary), Lois and Jessie Philpot; sister, Minnie Pearl Johnson; 33 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, son, Jack Heffeley, Jr., and daughter, Joyice Samuels; brothers, Isacarr, George, and Granville Philpot.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
