Betty L. Carmichael was born June 25, 1928 in Indianapolis and she deceased on June 24, 2009. She and her late husband, James, were both born 81 years ago this month, their birth days were a single day apart. Delivered into the world by the same doctor, they lived a few blocks from each other until they were married at the ages of 18. Their marriage remained a life-long bond for 62 years. Betty was a member of the Ben Davis Christian Church. She was a graduate of Decatur Central High School and she retired from the Wayne Township School System after driving a school bus for 28 years. A beloved mother by her sons Dennis (wife Kay), Patrick (wife Patricia), and Kevin (wife Jennifer), Betty was also the proud and loving grandmother of seven grandchildren (Dawn, Derek, Chris, Jeff, Kim, Joel and Danielle), and five great-grandchildren. Betty was the only daughter of Homer and Ora Bennett and is survived by her brother, Jack Bennett. Two brothers, Homer Jr. and William, predeceased Betty. Betty''s life was an inspiration to us through her dedication to family and friends. She had a clever and loving wit and always retained her special skill to create joy and laughter. What the heart has once known, it shall never forget. Betty Carmichael will be missed always by the many who loved her. Calling will be from 3:00-6:00 PM on Sunday, June 28, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135 in Greenwood, Indiana, 46143. Funeral services will be at noon on Monday, June 29 at the same location and burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
