Betty JoAnn Oertel, 84, of Port Charlotte, Florida, formerly of Greenwood and Indianapolis, passed away April 28, 2014 in Vick Street Manor. The daughter of Dorris L. and Elizabeth Broadstone Brooks, JoAnn was born September 6, 1929 in Washington, Indiana.

For 25 years, she was a credit department supervisor at the Sears at Greenwood Park Mall.

Survivors, son, Dennis (DeAnn) Oertel of Arcadia, Florida; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Oertel, son, Rick L. Oertel and a brother.

Private burial at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood. Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood assisting with arrangements.
