Betty Charlene Combs, 82, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at her home in Wanamaker, Indiana, surrounded by family and her devoted husband of 46 years, Robert "Bob" F. Ruth, age 84.

She was born Betty Charlene Richardson on May 18, 1942, in Indianapolis to Irene and LC Richardson. She was the fourth of eight children and the first to be born in Indiana.

Betty pursued many careers, always following her passions. Over the years, she worked as an interior designer, Mary Kay Director, tour guide with Sherry's Tours, and a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with Quality Nursing Care Agency in Marion, IN, from which she retired in 2000.

She was a devoted member of The Lighthouse Baptist Church on Raymond Street, where her services will be held. Betty found great joy in volunteering in the nursery, caring for babies during services, and assisting with church event decorations.

Betty was an active member of several clubs and volunteer organizations. She was a longtime member of the 20th Century Doll Club, amassing an impressive collection of dolls, with her favorites being Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. She was also passionate about quilting and participated in two quilting groups: The Pine Tree Knots Quilting Group in North Fort Myers, FL, and The Good Shepherd United Methodist Ladies' Quilting Club in Indianapolis.

Betty was a mother of three, Timothy Combs, Tammy Combs, and Todd Combs, and a devoted stepmother to Lisa Ruth and Robert Ruth (Angie). She also cherished her honorary daughter, Kasey (Mike) Viles. However, her greatest joy in life was being a grandmother and great-grandmother to her seven grandchildren and many honorary grandkids. She loved all children, always ensuring they were well-loved and cared for whenever the opportunity arose.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and LC Richardson; her brothers Othel (Vie) Richardson and Jerry (Barbara) Richardson; her sisters Loretta (Stan) Hicks and Diana Kellermeyer-Roundtree (Tom Roundtree); and her beloved son, Timothy Michael Combs.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Franklin Ruth; her brothers, Glen (Christine) Richardson and Ricky Richardson; her sister, Donna (Chuck) Weimer; her children, Todd Mathew Combs and Tammy Michelle Combs; her stepchildren, Lisa Ruth and Robert "Rob" (Angie) Ruth; her cherished honorary daughter, Kasey (Mike) Viles; her grandchildren, Amanda, Andrew, Jessica, Betty Diana, Jakob, and Shawn; her honorary and beloved grandchildren, Ashley, Adam, Austin, Amber, Patience, Troy and Beggi; six great-grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Visitation and services will be held at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 6950 E Raymond St., Indianapolis, on February 19, 2025, with visitation from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM and a service from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM.

Graveside services will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 1977 S State Rd 135, Greenwood, IN, at 2:30 PM, weather permitting.
