Betty Joan Green Bishop, 83, of Indianapolis, passed away May 8, 2015 at Bethany Village Nursing Home. The daughter of Raymond Dewey and Mary Sanson Green, Betty was born May 25, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois.

Betty was a 1950 graduate of Muncie Central High School. She worked as a nurse''s aide for St. Francis Hospital and the former Turtle Creek Nursing Home, both in Beech Grove. Betty was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She and her late husband enjoyed traveling and camping, having visited 49 out of the 50 states and she enjoyed collecting jewelry.

Betty is survived by her son, Charles J. (Debra) Bishop of Roachdale; her daughter, Barbara E. (Chris) Beach of Indianapolis; three granddaughters, Miranda Kenney, Christa Melton and Laura Kenney and eight great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Curtis Bishop, whom she married on February 26, 1954.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon May 15, 2015 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. to the time of services. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
