Betty Jo Phillips, age 83, of Greenwood, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Hearth at Stone''s Crossing. She was born February 28, 1931 in Indianapolis to Frank Boyd and Monnie (Robinette) Hall. She was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School with the Class of 1949. Betty Jo was a professional dog breeder, handler and member of the American Boxer Club. She was the former editor of the Boxer Shorts newsletter. One of her Champion dogs won its class at the Westminster Kennel Club competition. She was an avid Colts fan and loved to travel.
Betty Jo is survived by her son, Dale (Rebecca Duvall) Young; grandchildren Michelle (Clyde) Judkins-Bailey, Dale Ryan (Amanda Custer) Young, Tania Jean Osborne, Fara Raymer-Daugherty and Tara Raymer-Swickard; nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert Phillips and grandson, Scott May.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted with Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. The family requests memorial contributions to the Johnson Co. Humane Society or the American Kidney Fund.
