Betty R. Mershon, 78, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011 with family by her side. Betty was born on November 1, 1933 in Indianapolis to the late Leonard and Josephine (Gruber) Siefert. Betty married Donald R. Mershon on March 31, 1951.
Betty lived in Martinsville and moved to Moorseville in 1957. She retired from the Internal Revenue Service in 1984. Betty loved bowling, traveling, and her pets. She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Betty was a lifelong member of the Eastern Star Irvington Chapter as well as the Optimist International Moorseville Club.
Betty made many friends on her journey home and will be sadly missed by all those lives whom she touched, especially her friends from Fresenius.
Betty is survived by her loving daughters: Debbie Starling (Dan) and Linda Berkholz (Skip); 6 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald; sisters; daughter Roberta Sparks; and son-in-law.
Visitation will be on Sunday, November 20, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood. The funeral will be on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Optimist International.
