Betty J. Speas, 92, of Greenwood passed away April 11, 2017. She was born in Bloomington, IN on March 25, 1925 to Ralph and Amanda (Hensley) Sipes.

Betty was a caring, honest person who never met a stranger and would help anyone who needed it. She was faithful and loved the Lord as well as her grandchildren and family. Betty was an exceptional cook and a hard worker, who had a great sense of humor and made the holidays with her family special. She enjoyed writing poems and going to yard sales. Betty walked everywhere and enjoyed sitting on her front porch swing to people watch.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Amanda Sipes; brothers, Bud, Mel and Zook Sipes and one grandchild.

Betty is survived by her son, Robert (Shelley) Speas; daughters, Rosemary (Tom) Denham, Brenda (James, deceased) Mason, Linda Patton and Rita (Bobby, deceased) Helms; sisters, Marcella Thacker, Diana (George) Wetzel and Sandy Durham; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 14 from 10 am - 12 pm with a funeral service at 12 pm in Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood.
