Mrs. Betty Lou Steck, Indianapolis, passed away on the early morning of Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Greenwood Village South. She was 91. Betty was born October 30, 1029 in Beech Grove, Indiana, a daughter of the late Marion Carmer and Mary Adelaide (Soult) Sanders.

Betty attended Southport High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1947. A devoted homemaker, she deeply loved her family and took great joy in caring and providing a good home for them. Later in life, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren became her pride and joy. She was active in her children's lives by being a Girl Scout leader as well as serving in the PTA at School 72.

Betty was an active member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Indianapolis and always made sure the altar was properly decorated and she also put her skills in sewing and crafts to use as she made the paraments for the church. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women's Group.

Betty loved sports and was active in area bowling leagues for over 50 years. She also was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs and Indianapolis Colts.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Nina Zike; her grandchildren, Chris Zike and Jenna (Anthony) Beckham; her great-grandchildren, Mason Zike, Grant Zike, Carter Beckham, Marshall Beckham, Harrison Beckham and Jordan Beckham as well as her sister, Sue Zahnd.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband of over 65 years, Leland Ross Steck; her son-in-law, David Zike and her brother Lee Wayne Soult.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with burial following at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
