Betty S. Benefiel, age 85, of Greenwood, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Madison Healthcare in Indianapolis. She was born December 7, 1929 in Arno, VA to William" Bud" and Nora (Mullins) Sturgill. Betty worked as a Teller at Greenwood National Bank for 20 years, retiring in 1999. She was a member of Center United Methodist Church. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, as well as the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and she also loved talking about politics.

She married Dallas E. Benefiel on June 16, 1952 and he preceded her in death on February 24, 2000. She is survived by her sons, Wm. Steven Benefiel of Indianapolis and Kevin E. (Julie) Benefiel of Monrovia, IN; daughter, Maryjo A. Benefiel, of Dallas, TX; six grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Betty was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Nadine Whetsel, Irene Jones, Margaret Stanley, Agnes Smith, Nancy Blair, and Juanita Sanders; her beloved dog, Abby.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 19 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
