Mrs. Billie Faye Atchison, Greenwood, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, June 15, 2022. She was 88. Billie Faye was born January 7, 1934 in Westmoreland, Tennessee, a daughter of the late James Halum and Loney Marie (Andrews) Jones.
Billie Faye attended school in Tennessee and came to Indiana with her husband in 1952.She had been employed as a seamstress with the C.H. Ellis Company and retired in 2016 after 47 years of service. She then worked as a lunch room monitor with Center Grove Elementary School for three years until the onset of the Covid pandemic.
Billie Faye had a servant's heart and was a faithful member of Life Tabernacle in Indianapolis and had served as a children's Sunday School teacher and assisted in leading the singing. Her singing abilities led her to sing with a Gospel group, The Forerunners. She also dearly loved to read her Bible. In her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing, raising her vegetable garden as well as doing crossword and word search puzzles.
Billie Faye is survived by her children, Susan (Mark) Claeys, Halum 'Dick' Atchison, Reed (Vickie) Atchison and Mark Atchison; her grandchildren, Sean, Shana, Nicholas, Justin, Charity, Courtney, Raime, Emily, Jamie, Brenna, Evan and Jeremy; 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her loving husband of 42 years, Newell Evans Atchison and her siblings, Odell, James, OraMae, Dolly and Sue.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood with Pastors Danny McAdams and Ron Bowen officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
