In Loving Memory of Billy Gene Leytham

1939 – 2025

Billy Gene Leytham was born in 1939 on his family farm in Spickard, Missouri, and passed away peacefully in 2025 in Bradenton, Florida.

Bill was a dedicated student and a man of great intellect. He studied at both Purdue University and the University of Missouri, where he earned two bachelor's degrees—one in Electrical Engineering and the other in Industrial Engineering. His education led to a meaningful career at the Naval Avionics Center, where he contributed to advancing military technology and served his country with pride.

Bill was first married to Marilyn Bernice Leytham (1940–1992), with whom he had four children, William Allen Leytham, Kelly Wayne Leytham, Richard Lee Leytham and David Anthony Leytham. After Bernice's passing, he found love again and married Janie "Echo" Leytham.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Richard Lee Leytham and David Anthony Leytham.

Ricky Lawson (Daughter In-Law Karen Lawson), Ron Lawson (Daughter In-Law Suzie Lawson), Charlotte Seckman (Son In-Law Greg Seckman), eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren through his extended and blended family.


Bill was a man of many interests. He found joy in reading, bowling, square dancing, traveling, and working on puzzles. He was known for his curiosity, his warm sense of humor, and the kindness he extended to all who knew him.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held as follows:
Viewing: Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home (1977 S SR 135, Greenwood, IN, 46143)
Funeral Service: 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Procession to Cemetery (Escort): 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Billy Gene Leytham.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him
