Billy M. Messer, 80, of Plainfield passed away April 30, 2018. He was born August 4, 1937 in Bell County, KY to Ernest and Gladys (Reno) Messer.

Billy was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who would do anything for his grandkids. He had a great sense of humor and was an avid Kentucky basketball and football fan, who enjoyed gardening and his birds. Billy proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Gladys Messer; brothers, Don (Freida) Saylor and Ernest Dale (Colleen) Messer and sisters, Joyce Lewis and Fern Brock.

Billy is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Carrol Messer; son, Michael (Jamie) Messer; step son, Jamie J. Burchfield; step daughter, Elizabeth Broaddus; brother, Larry (Sueann) Messer; sister, Inez Bailey; grandchildren, Jeremy (Misty), Mandi (Richard), Mykel, Ainsley, Alexia, Frankie and Janelle; great grandchildren, Madison, Mason, Luke, Kaleb, Adrianna and Mason and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Tuesday, May 8, 2018 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm in Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 10:00 am, also in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
