Brenda Sue Rodocker, age 79, of Indianapolis passed on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

Brenda was born on October 12, 1946 and is preceded in death by her husband Jim Rodocker and parents Keith and Mildred (Michael) Himelick.

Brenda is survived by her children Lori Shelley (Kevin) and Jason Rodocker (Lisa); grandchildren Austin (Katie), Dylan, Caleb, and Jill; brothers Marv Himelick (Carolyn) and Curt Himelick (Teresa).

Brenda grew up in Centerville, Indiana. Her family lived in a farmhouse. She attended Brownsville schools and later graduated from Centerville High School in 1964 before moving to Indianapolis where she earned a degree from Porter Business College.

Brenda and Jim met at the Pole in 1966 and were married the following year on October 21, 1967, beginning 56 years of marriage. They drove his Corvette to California and back in 1971 before settling down to raise Lori and Jason in Avon.

Brenda loved her family, ran an orderly household, and always decorated for the holidays. She maintained a garden and marigolds for years. She enjoyed late night television such as Dallas and Falcon Crest. Brenda was famous for bringing rice Krispie treats and deviled eggs to family gatherings. She kept meticulous notes and tracked finances down to the penny. She sent cards and notes regularly – especially to her children when they were at college.

She raised her kids on family games such as Boggle, Euchre, and Yahtzee. Trips to Centerville were frequent and treasured. She enjoyed evening bike rides and Badminton games with the kids. She often won Putt Putt and was pretty good at golf.

She was employed at General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC) in the accounting department processing car payments for 37 years, where she worked until retirement in 2002.

Brenda’s grandchildren were her pride and joy. She entertained them with Uncle Wiggly, Mother Goose, and other board games on the floor. She actively followed their sports and other activities. Her children are going to miss talking to her on the phone on their way to and from work every day.

Brenda loved God and was steady in her faith from bible school at Central Christian Church, to attending Kingsway Christian Church for several years, and most recently as a member of Bluff Creek Christian Church in Greenwood where she enjoyed her Wednesday women’s bible group, the Golden Group, and eating with friends after church on Sundays.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 10am until the service at 1pm. Brenda will be laid to rest next to her husband in Switz City, Indiana immediately after the service.
