Mrs. Brenda Lee (Cannon) Russell, Indianapolis, passed away on the early morning of Friday, October 16, 2020 and is now safe in the arms of Jesus our Savior. She was 71. The first of five children, she was born April 26, 1949 in Indianapolis, a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Mary Anne (Adams) Cannon.
Brenda attended Northwest High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1967. She then attended Ball State University, majoring in Music. She later returned to Northwest where she was employed in the Music department as the pianist/accompanist. At a young age, Brenda began piano lessons and excelled in piano and organ. She grew in her playing skills and eventually became a very accomplished musician. In her younger years, she also played cello and bass in the all-city orchestra. She played for many churches, weddings and funerals. Brenda was a kind and sweet lady to everyone she knew.
Brenda will be sadly missed by her husband of 38 years, William (Bill) Russell and her daughter, Lori (Chris) Head. Also left to cherish her memory are her mother, Mary Anne Cannon; her sister, Sally (Ricky) Hopper; her brother, Vincent (Rhonda) Cannon as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, Robert Lee Cannon, she was preceded in passing by a sister, Annette Cannon and a brother Robert L. Cannon, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family has suggested those be offered to the American Cancer Society.
