Brenda Joyce (Russell) Scalf, 71, of Indianapolis, was called to be with the angels Friday, March 20, 2020.  She was born December 29, 1948 in Morgantown, Kentucky to Guy and Olivia (Woodcock) Russell.

Brenda married her love, Harrold Scalf, April 11, 1969 and together they raised 3 children. Brenda was a custodian with Indianapolis Public Schools for 25 years, retiring in 2001. She was an avid thrift shopper, but most of all, she loved her family fiercely, and was overjoyed whenever the entire family was together.  She always wanted to be "put to use" in anyway when preparing for family gatherings.  Brenda loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and spent as much time as she could with them.  She was a very loving woman and will be greatly missed by many.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Harrold; children Dion (Rollie) Oaks, Anthony Scalf, and Sarah (Aaron) Anderson; grandchildren, Kristin, Nichole, Sam and Shane; great grandchildren, Mila, Scarlet, and Joseph; and many, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her siblings; and grandchildren, Keith and Logan.

A private family gathering will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
