In Loving Memory of Bruce Hearn

July 2, 1951 – October 5, 2025

Bruce Hearn, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, at the age of 74.

Born on July 2, 1951, to Marjie ("Mo") and Ralph Hearn, Bruce was the second of six children, growing up alongside his three sisters and two brothers. Raised in a loving Christian home, Bruce developed a strong moral compass and a deep appreciation for faith that guided him throughout his life. Later, he found renewed spiritual fulfillment when he converted to Catholicism, embracing its rich traditions and sense of community.

A gifted scholar, Bruce graduated from Indiana University with dual degrees in Mathematics and Chemistry, a testament to his sharp intellect and a keen curiosity. In 1981, Bruce moved to San Jose, California with his family, where he would make his home for the remainder of his life.

Bruce began his professional journey in the chemical industry, but after recognizing the environmental impacts of the field, he made the courageous decision to change course. He transitioned into a career as a general contractor, where his meticulous attention to detail, craftsmanship, and integrity earned him the respect of clients and colleagues alike. A master carpenter and electrician, Bruce took great pride in teaching others the right way to do a job, patiently sharing his knowledge and always leading by example.

Above all, Bruce was a man devoted to his family. Later in life, he met his beloved wife, Bella, with whom he shared a deep and joyful partnership. When they married, Bruce and Bella made a heartfelt promise, not only to each other, but also to one another's families. Together, they blended a beautiful family of seven adult children: Jeremy, Jami, and Justin from Bruce, and Michelle, Tiffany, Timothy, and Mark from Bella. Bruce cherished each of them and was endlessly proud of the people they had become.

Bruce's love extended to his ten grandchildren, who brought him the greatest joy. He was a constant presence in their lives, cheering from the sidelines at games, attending school performances, and celebrating holidays together and he always made a point to gather for birthdays. While he didn't always host family gatherings, he was always there, present, supportive, and full of warmth. His quick wit, genuine smile, and calm, steady presence made him a beloved part of every occasion.

Bruce also had deep affection for his in-laws and extended family. He appreciated their warmth, traditions, and the bonds that grew stronger over the years. He never took family for granted, and his love reached well beyond his immediate circle, he embraced everyone as his own.

A lifelong learner and explorer, Bruce loved to travel. During college, he spent a summer studying abroad in France, Switzerland, and Italy, an experience that sparked his appreciation for culture and adventure. In later years, he shared memorable trips to the Philippines with Bella, deepening their connection and love for the world around them.

Bruce will be remembered as a man of integrity, kindness, and humor, a man who worked hard, loved deeply, and lived with purpose. His craftsmanship, wisdom, and unwavering faith will continue to guide and inspire all who knew him.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and faith that will be cherished by his family, friends, and all those blessed to have known him.
