Obituary

Carl J. Cook, age 80, of Greenwood, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Richard L. Roudebush V.A. Hospital. Carl was born January 13, 1933 in Sault St. Marie, MI to Paul M. and Vina (Gagnon) Cook. Carl was a highly decorated Korean Conflict and Vietnam veteran with 22 years for service in the U.S.Army. He was a member of the Big Red One, Ranger Association, F52 I 75 Organization and an instructor for Indiana National Guard and Reserve from 1996 to 2002. He was a member of American Legion Post # 252, and was an avid painter.

He married Ellen Sue Paisley on October 23, 1981 in Hammond, IN and she survives along with sons, Michael (Kelly) Cook, Patrick Cook, Kelly (Christine) Cook, Scott (Juli) Cook, and Steven (Megan) Sorrell; daughters, Jackie (Bill) Foltz, Sandy (Kevin) Griffin, Starla (Tim) Gross, and Stacia (Thomas) Sorrell-Bencze; brothers, Robert (Lou) Cook, Wayne Cook, Bud (Ruth) Cook and Bill Cook; sisters Gerry Girone and Shirley LeClerc; 23 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Fred and Paul Cook.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Ben Franklin Mausoleum with military honors. The family requests memorial contributions to the charity of the donor''s choice.
