Carl L. McClain, 96, 0f Greenwood, passed away February 2, 2016. Born March 1, 1919 in Clark Township, he was the son of the late Claude and Stella (Seright) McClain. He was a graduate of Clark High School Class of 1939. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the Fiji Islands, and the Philippines. He married Susie (Tilson) on October 21, 1945. A lifetime member of the Rocklane Christian Church, he too was a longtime member of the Johnson County Horseshoe Club. His hobbies included Horseshoes, cards, fishing, and gardening. Carl worked as a TV serviceman at Deer & Son Hardware in Franklin for more than thirty two years, retiring in 1979.
Carl is survived by, two daughters, Becky (Tom) Bowman, and Sherry (Denny) Morgan; five grandchildren; Shawn Harbert, Jeff (Amy) Harbert, Elizabeth (Tim) Gettler, Sara (Alan) Jester, and Kelly (Clayton) Thompson.
Seven great-grandchildren, Josslyn Harbert, Brody Harbert, Courtney Gettler, Emily Gettler, Alayna Jester, Karlee Jester, and Meadow Thompson.
He was preceded in death by, his parents, wife, Susie, a daughter, Brenda Harbert; Two brothers, Burl and Kenneth McClain, and four sisters, Vivian Freeman, Lena Miessen, Mae Ewing, and Helen Richey. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2016 in Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until time of service Sunday, at the funeral home. The family thanks the staff and management of the Hearth at Stones Crossing for the care and support provided for Carl during his residency there.
