*** SERVICE UPDATE***

The visitation scheduled for today for Mrs. Marshall has been postponed due to the winter storm.

The visitation has been moved to tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, 2026, for the same times that were scheduled for today.

Carol Sue "Susie" Marshall passed peacefully from this life into the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on Monday January 19th 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Louise Ashcraft, two sisters, Jean Wampler and Mary Taylor, and her loving husband Thomas Marshall. To continue sharing her legacy of love and light, she leaves behind a daughter and son in law Heather and Alan Stone, her grandsons and their fiancé's, Christian (Jenna Masheck) and Noah (Abbey DeFouw) Stone and two stepdaughters Vicki and Shaunna Marshall.  She is also survived by her three sons Mark (Jenny), Ricky (Aquilla) and Michael (Pam) Clemenz and three stepdaughters, Wendy Shaw (Donald), Terry Parker (Keith), Kathleen Coval (Greg), many grandchildren and great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family as well.

Carol Sue was born July 10, 1945, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Known to most as "Susie" at the time, she attended St. Mary's High School before transferring to Arlington High School during which she worked as a candy striper at Community Hospital East.

Later, Carol worked events at the Indiana Convention Center and Hoosier Dome, yielding her the opportunity to meet celebrities and entertainers, attend concerts and special events and offering her the ability to tell some pretty interesting stories from her experiences working there.

Carol went on to work at Expo Bowl, where she would meet friends that she cherished and Tom, a man that would bring her to know a love that most people only dreamed of knowing. Carol and Tom were married on June 24,1989 and built a life that honored each other and lived each day together fulfilling their vows to the fullest. Life for them wasn't always easy, Carol and Tom had many heath issues that would arise over the years, but they tackled them together, hand in hand, leaning on each other, God, and a love that sustained them both.

From a very young age, one thing was evident about Carol Sue, she had a love for animals and nature and saw the absolute beauty in God's creation. There was no critter she didn't want to hold, cuddle, save, adopt, photograph, or feed. That love probably led her to her next job at the Indianapolis Zoo where she worked in the control room for approximately 15 years, carefully monitoring the delicate operations of the enclosures for the marine animals and ensuring that they were safe in their habitats.

Carol also had a passion for primitives and antiques. After retiring from the zoo, Carol went to work part time for Take Root Country Store. She shopped there so often, she thought she might as well work there, and she did for many years.

Carol was a kind and caring person who loved people deeply and that included many of the wonderful friends and neighbors she was blessed with along the way. She loved spending time with friends who were like family and those moments spent with Mary Jane, Rexanne and David, Sandy and Darrel, and The Clark family were among her most treasured.

Carol was many beautiful things, but her faith and connection to God was by far, the most important. She believed in God's saving grace and allowed Him to sustain her and believed that He would never leave us, nor forsake us. All who knew Carol Sue, knew laughter, knew love and they knew that our strength is found in God and our hope lies in His son Jesus Christ.

Visitation will be Monday, January 26, 2026 from 2pm-7pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Service will be Tuesday, January 27 at 10:00 AM with visitation one hour prior at 9:00 am. With entombment to follow at 11:30 am at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
