Obituary

Carol Ann (Buchanan) Powers passed away peacefully at home on June 17th, 2022. She was born December 4th, 1941 in Rush County, Indiana.

She was a teacher and librarian and established elementary library systems for both Center Grove and Albany schools. She married Frederick Michael Powers July 4th, 1970 and they were married over 50 years. She had two children, Nancy Abigail (Powers) Crimmins and Charles Frederick Powers. The family moved to Morristown, Indiana where Carol was librarian for the Jr and Sr. High School until her retirement.

She had 6 grandchildren (Sidney Abigail Powers, Seth Michael Powers, Anna Beatrice Crimmins, Jaida Kade Green, Molly Caroline Crimmins, and Tate Filebar Crimmins) whom she loved dearly. She was proceeded in death by her two sisters, brother, and parents and we are happy she is getting to be with all of them again.

Carol loved books (especially mystery books), wine, music, and PBS. She loved to travel and loved history and antiques. She won card games and board games more than should have been statistically possible. She loved hard--so hard that she fought through three cancers and a handful of other minor illnesses to make it past 80 years of age. Being with her family and friends brought her so much joy. She was one of a kind and will be missed.

In lieu of flowers or food, please consider a donation to your local PBS station or cancer charity of your choice.
