Obituary

Mrs. Carol Rake, of Indianapolis, passed away on the morning of Monday, December 15, 2025. She was 80 years old. Carol was born February 2, 1945, in Hamden, Ohio, a daughter of the late Edgar and Rosalie (Hartsough) Christian.

Carol attended Hamden High School in Ohio and was a proud member of the graduating class of 1963. Shortly thereafter, she pursued her calling in healthcare, earning her certification as a registered nurse from the Holzer Hospital School of Nursing in 1966. Carol devoted more than 40 years to the nursing profession, serving others with compassion, skill, and dedication. She retired in 2002 from Fairfield Medical Center, leaving behind a legacy of care that touched countless lives.

Beyond her professional life, Carol was deeply involved in music and fellowship. She was an active member of Sweet Adelines International, singing with both the Columbus, Ohio chapter and the Circle City Chapter in Indianapolis. Music brought her great joy and lasting friendships.

Carol was also known for her talents in the kitchen. An excellent cook and a tremendous baker, she especially looked forward to Christmastime, when she delighted in sharing her homemade goodies with family, friends, and neighbors. She was an avid sports fan, proudly supporting The Ohio State University, and she cherished time spent with her grandchildren, particularly while watching them play baseball and basketball.

She is survived by her sons, Steve (Tricia) Rake and Scott (Cristy) Rake as well as her grandchildren, Emily Rake, Claire Rake, Christian Rake and Jack Rake.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in passing by her beloved husband, Patrick Henry Rake and her sisters, Betty and Barbara Ann.

In accordance with Carol's wishes, there will be no services at this time. The family will be planning a Celebration of Life at a later date.

For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family suggests donations be offered to the Sweet Adelines International at sweetadelines.com.
