It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carolyn Devon Roberts, who left us on July 13,, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 74 years old.
Born December 26, 1948 in Cane Creek, Kentucky, Carolyn Devon Roberts lived a life full of love, kindness, and compassion. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, touching the lives of all who knew her.
Family was at the core of Carolyn's being. She dedicated herself to creating a warm and loving home for her family. As a devoted wife, she shared a deep and enduring love with her husband, Thomas Milton Roberts, who preceded her in death in 1999, cherishing each moment spent together.
As a mother, Carolyn was a constant source of love, support, and guidance to her children, Greta Faye Roberts (Casey) and Thomas Milton Roberts Jr. She instilled in them the values of integrity, empathy and perseverance. Her legacy will live on through the lives of her children and their children for generations to come.
In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Carolyn worked as a sorter for Redcats for 30+ years before retiring in 2011.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father Thomas Cannon Schell; her mother, Elza Joan Schell; her brother, Tifford Lee Schell; her husband, Thomas Milton Roberts and her daughter, Greta Faye Roberts (Casey).
She leaves behind her son, Thomas Jr, and his wife Kimberly; four grandchildren, Kayla and Kyla Casey and Madison and Thomas Roberts; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Glenda, Janice and Kathy as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends who loved her very much. There is a profound void in the hearts of her loved ones who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.
We will always remember Carolyn for her boundless love, her unwavering strength and the indelible mark she left on this world.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with Pastor Timothy Pender officiating. Entombment will follow the services at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
