Obituary

Mrs. Catherine Lucille Allison, Indianapolis, passed away on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at The Wellington at Southport. She was 87. Catherine was born February 26, 1936 in Indianapolis, Indiana a daughter of the late Walter Reed and Alzora Amelia (Calloway) Pence.
Catherine was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis and soon after married the love of her life, Richard Allison. Catherine was a devoted wife and mother and spent her life caring for her family and home. While her children were growing up, she was a member of the PTA at both Schools 111 and 114. She was always up going out to eat and especially enjoyed the desserts. She had also been a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization. Catherine was also quite proud that she took care of and washed the jerseys for the Southport High School football team.
Catherine lived a sacrificial life in service of others. She took care of her mother for over 15 years and was always available to help those who needed assistance when called upon.
Catherine loved the Lord Jesus Christ and attended the Gospel of Deliverance Church in Indianapolis and visited many other churches around the area where she was always happy to play the piano and organ for the services. She loved Southern Gospel Music and enjoyed attending concerts.
Catherine is survived by her children, David (Tamara) Allison, Mark Allison, Daniel (Barbara) Allison, Michelle (Mark) Elliott and Matthew (Maria) Allison; her five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Martha Pence as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband of 67 years, Richard Allison; a granddaughter, Jennifer Allison; a great-grandson, Damien Miller; her siblings, Clarence (Mary) Pence, Bernadine (Robert) Mix, Walter Pence Jr., Boyd (Maxine) Pence and Silas Pence.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday, June 9, 2023 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with Pastor Ron Bowen officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens following the services.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 pm, Thursday, June 8, 2023 at the funeral home.
For those choosing to make a memorial contribution in Catherine's memory, the family has suggested those be offered to the Alzheimer's Association.
