Mrs. Cathy Lavon Spears, Indianapolis, passed away on the morning of Thursday, January 14, 2021. She was 73. Cathy was born March 28, 1947 in Greenwood, Indiana a daughter of the late Azzie H. and Minnie B (Rippy) O'Neal.

Cathy attended local schools and had worked for American Trans Air (ATA) for 23 years and retired in 1995 as a maintainance supervisor. She enjoyed living the simple life. First and foremost, she loved her grandchildren above all the rest. She enjoyed eating popcorn, drinking coffee, wordsearch puzzles and reading. Cathy was also a wonderful cook and got much pleasure listening to Gospel music especially that of Jimmy Swaggart. She was a good listener and advisor, compassionate, was independent and had a strong heart. She loved the Lord and serving him as a member of the Little Zion United Baptist Church.

Cathy is survived by her loving husband, Leonard H. Spears, Sr., her children, Robin (Rob) Pearson, Jennifer (Tom) Cline and Leonard (Angela) Spears, Jr.; her grandchildren, Danielle Pearson, Heather Pearson, Steven Pearson, Melanie Pearson, Dustin (Kaitlyn) Wheatley, Garrett Wheatley, Tommy Cline, Jessica Cline, Jordan Spears, Jalen Spears and Chelsea Spears; her great-grandchildren, Jordan Pearson, Kayden Cline, Olivia Wheatley, and two on the way as well as several 'adopted' grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brothers, Ronald (Linda) O'Neal and Donald (Betty) O'Neal; her sister, Willie B. Ferguson and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her siblings, Markie O'Neal, Sharon Foster and Otis O'Neal.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 pm, Friday, January 22, 2021 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Ben Coffey officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 pm, Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the funeral home.
