Chalmer "Al" W. Bales Jr. 75 of Greenwood passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2010. Al was born in Indianapolis to the late Chalmer W. Bales Sr. and Grace Bales. He was employed as a U.S. postal worker and retired after 31 years of service. Al served in the United States Army from 1956-1959. He was stationed in Germany where he met the woman who would later become his wife. He was also a member of the moose lodge # 2079. His true passion in life was music. Al was a lover of the Hawaiian Steel Guitar and a member of several bands. Al leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years, Vera Bales. Other survivors include, two daughters, Loana Minor (Jeff), and Tania Bales; one sister, Janice Grassi; five grandchildren, Daniela Snow, Maiya Bales, Dustin Dannettelle (Shawna), Javen Sigman, and Jon Minor; and four great-grandchildren. Family and friends will gather on Saturday, July 31, 2010 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. in Forest Lawn Funeral Home with a service immediately following. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
