Charlene "Char" Louise Dwenger, Greenfield, IN, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025. She was 91 years old. Char was born in Indianapolis, IN to her parents Harley and Margaret Dorothy Grever. She graduated from Howe High School, class of 1952. Char married her husband Francis "Bud" Dale Dwenger and together they shared 41 years of marriage until Bud passed away in March of 1997.
Char worked as a bakery & deli manager for Preston Safeway and later K-Mart for over fifty years. Char was a woman of faith who was most recently a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Greenfield, IN. Char always looked forward to her family get-togethers, cookouts, and holidays; she loved spending time surrounded by her loved ones. Char was a lifelong fan of the Indiana Pacers and the Fever. Char stayed community oriented into her golden years and had a special ability to make fast friends with everyone she met. Char enjoyed playing cards and trying her luck at Bar Poker and Casinos. She was a dedicated and talented player who consistently placed well during the games she would play. Char also enjoyed completing puzzles, crosswords and sudoku to stimulate her mind and keep her sharp. Char kept up with the times and frequently used things like Facebook and Life 360 to connect with friends and family. She will be remembered as a fun-loving sweetheart and will be missed dearly by those she leaves behind.
Char is survived by her children, Ron (Debi) Dwenger, Cathy (Jeff) May, Debbie McIntyre, and Dave Dwenger; her grandchildren, Dawn (Adam), Crys (Sam), Brian (Marissa) Katie (Jeremiah), Angie, Eric (Emily), Kyle, Jacob (Bronzella), and Nick; her great grandchildren, Alli, Drew, Hudson, Zac, Cooper, Levi, Jason, MaKenzie, Alivia, Carson, Logan, Colton, Paige, Jaylen, Evan, Makylah, Kashton, Kamden, Zelen, Stella, Rosalyin, and Rydia; her several nieces and nephews.
Char is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her child, Barbara Louise Dwenger; her brothers, Lawrence Grever and Harley Grever Jr.
A visitation for Char will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 11:30 am. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 1:00 pm.
