Obituary

Mr. Charles Coleman Boyd, Greenwood, passed away on the evening of Tuesday, July 6, 2021. He was 79. Charles was born July 28, 1941 in Evansville, Indiana, a son of the late Oswell Curtis Boyd and Frances Rozelle (Hughes) Scott.

Charles was a 1957 graduate of Lebanon High School and earned an Associate's degree from Indiana Business College. He had been employed in supervision at Allison Transmission and retired in 1995 after 30 years of service. Charles was a member of Greenwood Lodge No. 514, F&AM, was a past Exalted Ruler of the Plainfield Elks Lodge, and was past president of Indy Dancers. He had also served as transportation manager at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

In his leisure time, Charles enjoyed dancing, boating on Lake Monroe, traveling (especially to the Caribbean), grilling out and playing golf as well as caring for his favorite dog, Sam. The happiest day of his life was steering the US Navy destroyer, the USS Conolly for 30 minutes, a highlight of his life.

Charles is survived by his children, Brad (Barb) Boyd and Suzie (Dwayne) Glenn; his grandchildren, Amanda Andrews (Fiance, Derek Mecklenburg), Zachary Boyd, Lindsey Glenn, Noah Glenn, Matthew Glenn, Nicholas Irwin, Alicia (Dakota) Lyman, Alexandra Reynolds, Randel Walker and Tyler Greer; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; his sister, Charlotte Jackson; the mother of his children and former spouse, Linda Turley as well as a niece and nephew.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his son, Randel Boyd and a sister Barbara Boyd.

Services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with burial following at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends form 12:00 pm until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family has suggested those be offered to the Marion County Humane Society.
